Finding Your Passion

Finding Your Passion

Lifestyle | Posted by - August 11, 2014 at 12:30 am

I refer to myself as a lifelong celiac because I have been living with celiac disease since I was medically diagnosed by biopsy as a toddler. Interestingly, it has shaped who I am and who I have become. Prior to a timely diagnosis, I was a few short weeks away from losing my life to the poorly understood autoimmune and gastroenterological disease.

Of course it takes a lot of hard work to build a business, however, if you have the passion, often times success happens naturally.

Many people mistakenly believe being celiac simply means that as long as you avoid gluten, you’re good to go. In reality, however, over 80 percent of celiacs never make a complete recovery, and as a result they deal with serious ongoing (systemic) health challenges throughout their lives. In spite of being gluten-free most of my life, the disease has had a serious effect on my musculoskeletal system, nervous system and urinary system, to name a few.

My passion to help others who live gluten-free as I do led me to create, a resource that anyone can easily access and learn from. Initially, it started out as a simple blog built on Blogger, but it has since evolved. Recently, a very prominent Canadian entrepreneur told me he looked at and was amazed at what has developed out of passion. He’s right – in this case, a lot has developed from passion. And although the site is still young, it certainly has the potential for much more growth.

Of course it takes a lot of hard work to build a business, however, if you have the passion, often times success happens naturally. has been built around my life and journey – it provides information I need to be aware of, recipes I need to follow for good health, products I need to buy for my pantry, and the list keeps on going. I am passionate about the site and what it offers, and I am equally passionate about sharing it and helping others who can also benefit from it. One thing has become clear to me about the journey of entrepreneurship – once you find your source of passion, there is just no telling where you can go!
