Janet Zuccarini is a Toronto restaurateur who owns Gusto 101 and Trattoria Nervosa. She comes by her passion for both food and entrepreneurship honestly - her father brought the first espresso machine to Canada back in 1954. Zuccarini worked in the family business, helping her father sell espresso machines and restaurant equipment, an experience which afforded her a firsthand glimpse into the inner workings of the food industry.
In the ensuing years, Zuccarini has been certified as the first female pizzaiola in Canada by the Associazione Verace Pizza Napoletana - and she was also the first restaurateur to offer wine on tap in Toronto. She's also travelled widely, seeking out culinary inspiration in Italy, New York, LA, San Francisco, Buenos Aires, Rio, London and Paris.
YouInc recently caught up with Zuccarini at Gusto 101 to discuss food, partnerships, and two upcoming new establishments - Gusto 501 and a Thai restaurant called Pai.
