When you are running a family and a business, you will encounter some nights that never seem to end. Of course, mompreneurs don’t have the option of hitting the snooze button to steal a few extra hours of sleep. We have to get our kids off to school and be ready to meet clients and make deals. Here are some tips to help you survive the day after an all-nighter.

If your child is keeping you up at night, then you may need to seek assistance from a sleep consultant.

Make an extra effort to look good. If you have been up all night, you’ll probably be able to see it in your face. However, you don’t want your clients to perceive you as being tired. Take a little more time with your appearance this morning. Wear your favourite lipstick and choose an outfit that will make you look vibrant.

Identify your top priorities. You likely won’t accomplish everything on your to-do list today. Instead of putting a lot pressure on yourself, just focus on your most important tasks. Take care of anything that is urgent and leave the rest for tomorrow.

Stay alert. You might find yourself starting to zone out towards the middle of the day. Sometimes you need a little jolt to carry you through to 5 p.m. Take a walk outside and let the fresh air fill your lungs. Going for a run or working out at the gym for half an hour will also give you some energy. If these healthy options don’t appeal to you, pick up a strong coffee. Today is not the day to be a hero.

Address the issue. Sleep deprivation is a serious problem that can contribute to mistakes at work, car accidents, and a multitude of health issues. As a mompreneur, you may accept lack of sleep as part of the package, but you shouldn’t. Identify what is preventing you from sleeping and take steps to address the problem. If your child is keeping you up at night, then you may need to seek assistance from a sleep consultant. If you are up all night working, then you either need to hire some help, or adjust the way that you work. If you are lying in bed tossing and turning, then it might be time to see your doctor.

Mompreneurs have busy days and a lot of responsibility. If you want to keep up this hectic pace, you need to make your health a priority. While you may be able to handle missing a few nights of sleep now and then, if it happens too much, it will eventually catch up with you.
