This is the time of year for lists. Newspapers, magazines and blogs are filled with lists attempting to sum up the year that is drawing to a close. While the end of the year is clearly a time for reflection, it is also a wonderful opportunity to look forward.
We recently heard Stanford professor Bob Sutton speak about his new book, Scaling Up Excellence. Sutton discussed how to grow your organization without compromising your standards. What stood out for us, however, was one simple thought about growth: What got you here won't get you there.
So what do you want to change in 2015? And how will you get there?
And that's the tricky thing about entrepreneurship, isn't it? What you did in the past doesn't necessarily guarantee your success in the future. Things are changing around us so quickly that we’re forced to change as well, or we risk getting left behind.
So what do you want to change in 2015? And how will you get there? This is a great time to look at where you want your business to go in the next year. Do you have to revisit your plans? Do you have the right systems and processes in place to support your plans? Do you have the right team in place? Do you need some help staying accountable?
If what got you here won't get you there, then there is only one thing to do: Change. Or, as we're fond of saying ourselves, if you want to change your life, chances are, you're going to have to change your life.
Here's to a happy and productive 2015, full of change.
