Has everyone done there research on the new Anti-Spam Legislation starting July 1st? http://www.crtc.gc.ca/eng/casl-lcap.htm I don't send a lot of emails but once or twice a year I like to send an email to our customers to let them know about new products. My question is do you think that by being your customer that means you have "consent" to send them these email updates? Or do I need to get written proof that it's okay to send them a couple updates a year?

Hello Jenny,

Canada's Antispam Legislation, Section 10 (10), states that an existing business relationship constitutes implied consent. This means that you are able to send emails regarding your products to existing customers who have purchased from you in the past two years. However, in order to send commercial electronic messages to new customers, you would require their express consent. Read more about existing business relationships here: http://laws-lois.justice.gc.ca/eng/acts/E-1.6/page-3.html?texthighlight=sections+section+10#s-10

Hope this helps.
