Choosing the Right Social Media for YOUR Biz!

A lot of people I meet while speaking at events tell me they are:

1)      Overwhelmed

2)      Confused

3)      Frustrated

4)      All of the above

when it comes to social media. One of the first things I do when I work with clients is help them identify THEIR “ideal clients” – who is the most likely to need their product or service. Then we identify the social media platforms where those ideal clients are most likely to be.

To identify your ideal clients I’ve created a video that will ask you the questions you need to answer to identify your ideal clients. Here’s a link to the video –

Once you’ve identified your ideal clients then choose one or two of the social media platforms where they are most likely to be.

Here’s a breakdown of who uses some of the most popular social media platforms:

-   67% of internet users in the U.S. use Facebook

-  83% of 18-29 year olds use it, but the 45-54 year old age bracket has grown nearly 50% since 2012

-   Among U.S. internet users 73% with incomes above $75K are on Facebook

-   Over 65% of the social media viewed on mobile phones is Facebook

-  Slightly more women than men use Facebook

-  Younger demographic (average age 27)

-  More city dwellers use it than rural residents

-  Approximately 15% of people who earn $30K – $75K use it

-  15% of women and 17% of men on social media use Twitter

-  61 million US users – 157 million worldwide

-  39% are 35-54 years old

-  31% are 25-34 years old

-  Men outnumber women slightly (52% vs 47%)

-  YouTube reaches more adults aged 18-34 than any cable network

-  YouTube users are almost evenly split 50/50 male/female

-  100 million take some kind of action on YouTube every week (like, share, comment)

-  Majority of Pinterest users are 25-34 years old

-  80% of Pinterest users are women

-  Highly affluent demographic

-  Drives a great deal of traffic to sites where users then buy

The most important task any business owner who uses social media is to IDENTIFY their ideal client and then user the social media platforms where those ideal clients are. Focus on one or two platforms, analyze when your audience is online (using analytics from each platform) and then post information that your audience finds compelling.
