Entrepreneur Spread: A condition resulting in one's butt taking on the shape of one's office chair.
Between the long Canadian winters and time spent at a desk, entrepreneurs can find themselves battling weight gain, impaired circulation and a general lack of fitness. To help counter this side effect of entrepreneurism while still accommodating my workaholic ways, I've found three exercises I can do at my desk while continuing to work.
1. Leg raises are simple enough to do on their own, but I add a twist that also tackles "entrepreneur gut". Raise your legs straight out in front of you & hold the position for several seconds. Lower your feet back to the floor, then lift your upper legs towards your stomach & hold the position for several seconds. Repeat both moves in succession as many times as you are able.
2. Butt & gut squeezes will help contain that spreading behind and "entrepreneur gut", and you can do them anywhere. Simply contract your buttocks muscles and hold, then haul in that tummy and hold. Both exercises will also help strengthen your lower back.
3. Pedal exercising has done wonders for my circulation. You can pick up a pedal exerciser in many stores and they easily fit under most desks. Some are more elaborate than others, offering electronic measurement, adjustable resistance and folding models.
It is possible for Canadian entrepreneurs to stay in shape without devoting too much time to working out. How do find time to stay fit? Please share your tips!
